The 56-kilometer Philippine National Railways (PNR) Calamba Project or the PNR Clark Phase 3 is targeted to be partially operable by 2025, the Department of Transportation (DoTr) said on Tuesday.
The PNR Calamba segment which starts from Solis, Tondo to Calamba, Laguna is one of the segments of the massive North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Project.
"Dahil sa train system ng PNR, ang pagbiyahe niyo from Calamba papuntang Clark airport ay magiging isang oras at kalahati," Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said during his inspection of Alabang and Mamatid stations, the future sites of the Calamba Depot and PNR Calamba Central Station.
With its 19 stations, 19 commuter trains sets and seven airport express train sets, the NSCR is also projected to cut travel time from Manila to Laguna, from the usual three-hour ride to just 1 hour.
Once fully operational, it is also seen to accommodate 340,000 to 550,000 passengers.
