Cop26: Delegates face transport chaos after rail union rejects pay deal

Crisis planning is taking place in an effort to keep train services running through the Cop26 climate conference after one trade union held out against a new pay offer.

Delegates at the RMT’s annual meeting in Leeds rejected a deal for workers in Scotland to receive a 4.7 per cent pay rise over two years without balloting its members. The offer is equivalent to equivalent to between £1,700 and £2,600 over two years.

Union officials said that delegates had "fully consulted" members before the vote. Three other unions - Aslef, Unite and TSSA - accepted the offer.
