CAF signs a contract to supply the initial 40 trains for Metro Madrid.

A deal between CAF and Metro Madrid has been reached for the first of two sets of trains that the Madrid operator will purchase in order to update and increase the fleet of rolling stock it owns.
The arrangement, which is estimated to be valued close to €400 million, calls for the design and manufacture of 40 wide-gauge, single-voltage trains that will run on the metropolitan network's lines 6 and 8.
It also entails creating and executing a plan to maximize the fleet's life cycle, with the potential to supply more train units in the future.
