Urban rolling stock will be provided by a factory for national and international rail projects.
In the presence of Henri Poupart-Lafarge, the company's CEO and chairman of the board,
Alstom officially opened the extension of its rolling stock plant in Taubaté, in the State of So Paulo.
Customers, partners, workers, as well as municipal and state authorities attended the ceremony,
which was held today at the location and marked the start of a new chapter in the company's history in Brazil.
Alstom tripled the manufacturing footprint of the factory to 60,000 m2, housing production,
testing, and training rooms as well as new office space, by investing €14 million to expand and modernise the industrial site.
Following the signing of six domestic and international contracts, the investment is a component of the company's expansion strategy.
Two projects are presently in production, and factory operations will last through 2028.
Alstom's Taubaté factory will construct more than 170 trains (940+ cars) for the cities of So Paulo (Brazil),
Santiago (Chile), Taipei (Taiwan), and Bucharest (Romania),
demonstrating the facility's capacity to support global mobility initiatives.
