29 January 2024 (Romania)

deal for the delivery of sixteen Traxx MS electric locomotives and accompanying maintenance services spanning twenty years has been signed by Alstom and the Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF).

This around €150 million transaction expands Alstom and ARF's cooperation in the rolling stock industry.

By signing an additional agreement, the 20-year maintenance and repair period can be extended by an additional 20 years.

The electric locomotives with four axles will be able to pull up to sixteen passenger cars and reach top speed of 200 km/h.

Alstom's cutting edge onboard ERTMS system will be installed on them to provide complete interoperability, maximum efficiency, and high standards of safety and security.
