Beijing MTR Opens Northern Line 17 and the Remaining Section of Line 16

The Phase II Northern Section of Beijing Metro Line 17 (Line 17) and the Remaining Section of Beijing Metro Line 16 (Line 16) were inaugurated for passenger service on December 30, 2023, according to an announcement made.
This significant event marks the complete opening of Line 16, the north-south backbone of Beijing's metro system, and improves the network's coverage and connection even more.
This brings the overall length of this north-south backbone line to 48.9 kilometres.
The metro system in northern Beijing is improved with the 24.9-kilometer, 10-station Phase II Northern Section of Line 17.
