BLET and Union Pacific Reach Historic Agreement to Enhance Locomotive Engineers' Work Schedules and Vacation Time

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) and Union Pacific Railroad today announced a historic tentative agreement that
increases the quality of life for Union Pacific’s locomotive engineers and their families by making it feasible for them to have more predictable schedules.
It also will help the railroad to better manage staffing levels, which enables more constant and reliable service.
An 11-day on, 4-day off schedule is offered to locomotive engineers under the proposed agreement.
Within a year following ratification, Union Pacific anticipates making significant headway in implementing the revised work/rest schedules.
