Construction of Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 set to commence in 2025 following the signing of a major contract

19 September 2024 (NSW)

Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 has moved a step closer with the awarding of a $322 million contract to John Holland Pty Ltd for the first phase of the project, which includes constructing 1.3 km of new light rail alignment and a 320-meter bridge over the Parramatta River.

Design and preliminary works are set to begin this year, with major bridge construction scheduled to commence in 2025.

This will be the first significant bridge to span the Parramatta River since the completion of the Ryde Bridge nearly 40 years ago.
