Innovative hybrid battery train develops for Southern Italy's intercity market
This summer, a new intercity hybrid battery train will go into operation in Southern Italy.
Seven intercity hybrid battery trains will be provided by Hitachi Rail to Trenitalia as part of a larger €1.23 billion framework deal.
A hybrid train reduces CO2 emissions by 83% by utilizing diesel, electric, and battery power.

Finland will get the cutting-edge ETCS Level 2 train control technology from Siemens Mobility
25 April 2024 (Finland) Under the "Digirail project" of the Finnish government, which entails updating the nation's train control system, Siemens Mobility will modernize the first segment of Finland's rail network. The contract was recently awarded and covers the first-ever installation of the Hybrid Train Detection (HTD) and the European Train Control System Levels 2 (ETCS L2) in Finland on the 191-kilometer length between Lielahti and Rauma-Pori.
