For long-distance travel, the British set the standard by selecting trains over airplanes

A recent global poll commissioned by Hitachi Rail found that, when it comes to long-distance travel, British people are the most likely in the world to opt for trains over cars or airplanes.
According to the poll, 46% of Londoners—as opposed to 34% globally—prefer long-distance rail travel, followed by cars (41%), short-haul aircraft (10%), and trains (46%).
Additionally, respondents said that they will be using trains for travel in the future on a regular basis.
