Hitachi Rail pays €1,660 million to acquire Thales' Ground Transportation Systems

With the completion of its €1,660 million acquisition of Thales' Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) division,
Hitachi Rail has expanded its worldwide footprint to 51 countries and now generates most of its revenue from higher-return signaling and systems.
After the closure, 9,000 highly qualified coworkers join Hitachi Rail, bringing the company's total workforce to 24,000.
Hitachi Rail's engineering capacity will nearly double as a result of the deal, and the company will invest more in innovation to offer a wider range of digital products, including ticketing, operations, signalling, and cyber security solutions.
