Indonesia: Launch of Southeast Asia's First Fast Train by President Joko Widodo

The Whoosh Jakarta Bandung Fast railway, the country of Indonesia's president Joko Widodo's first fast railway in Southeast Asia, was officially opened.
On October 2, 2023, the Whoosh Fast Train started running for the general public.
According to President Jokowi, the 350 km/h fast train between Jakarta and Bandung is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and Indonesia.
“We call this fast train Whoosh. "This is the inspiration for the sound of a high-speed train and Whoosh is an abbreviation for Saving Time, Optimal Operation, Great System," said President Jokowi.
The fast train between Jakarta and Bandung, according to President Jokowi, represents a modernisation of public transportation that is
effective, ecologically friendly, and integrated with other means of transportation, including TOD (Transit Oriented Development).
