KiwiRail effectively boosts New Zealand's summer holiday infrastructure

Over the course of the summer break, KiwiRail personnel successfully completed major renovation projects on schedule and within budget throughout the nation's main commuter rail networks.
KiwiRail was able to complete project improvements, slide repairs and maintenance work throughout New Zealand's metro networks more quickly and at a period of lower commuter demand by temporarily shutting down the lines (block of line).
More than 1800 workers were employed at 89 active worksites around the rail corridor in Auckland, where the city's rail infrastructure was still being upgraded and improved.

The HCS project will replace and significantly upgrade the signalling and train control systems on Perth's rail network. The HCS control technology will be housed in the new state-of-the-art Public Transport Operations Control Centre (PTOCC) in East Perth. This facility will serve as a central hub to ensure smooth and safe public transport operations, including incident management.
