In order to provide Electrical Mechanical Systems and Track Works, including digital signalling for the new commuter railway from Solis to Malolos in the Philippines,
the Philippine Government's Department of Transportation awarded Hitachi Rail significant contract worth approximately 114 billion JPY*1 (roughly 814 million USD) called CP04.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency will fund the project, which would span about 35.4km and nine stops on the North South Commuter Railway's 147km commuter route from Calamba to Clark.

The project would lower rail carbon emissions and promote the use of environmentally friendly public transportation over more polluting private vehicles, which will be major boost for sustainability in the Philippines.
