Members of the Trans-Asian Railway will complete a regional plan for expediting rail digital transformation

On April and 6, 2023, New Delhi, India hosted high-level conference on accelerating rail digital transformation in the Asia and Pacific area. The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) of the United Nations and the Ministry of Railways jointly organised the conference.

18 nations, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Georgia, India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan (online), 
Lao People's Democratic Republic, Nepal, Russian Federation, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan (online), and Viet Nam, sent representatives to the conference.

coordinated strategy for creating regional rail network to assist intra- and inter-regional trade and transportation is provided by the Trans-Asian railway network. 

An intergovernmental agreement on the Trans-Asian Railway network, which went into effect in 2009, formalised the 128,000 km long train network that runs through 28 nations.
