Customers are advised to check before they travel from Friday, March 29 to Monday, April 1, when buses will replace trains on a portion of Network Rail's Wessex route. This is because Network Rail is finishing up a number of crucial railway upgrades as part of a larger £89 million nationwide investment program.
Network Rail's engineers will be working nonstop between Hounslow, Staines, and Windsor & Eton Riverside from Friday, March 29 (Good Friday) to Monday, April 1 (Easter Monday) to rebuild track for the railway's continuous dependable operation.
Over the course of the Easter weekend, 800 meters of third rail—the electrified 750 volt rail
that powers trains—will be installed, along with 760 meters of cabling, switches,
and crossings—movable sections of track that allow trains to change tracks.
