Stadler's first battery trains intended for Chicago

Metra has chosen Stadler to provide up to 16 of its cutting-edge Battery Electric Multiple Unit (BEMU) rail cars, which the company plans to install on its Rock Island Line.
Eight two-car trainsets are being ordered by Metra initially, with the option to expand to three or four cars later on.
The cars will be produced in the US in accordance with the Buy America Act, and they are made to comply with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.
