Thales to offer modern solutions to Alexandria Metro

In order to provide Egypt's National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) with a state-of-the-art public transport system for the city of Alexandria, Thales enters into a new contract with the Colas Rail/Orascom joint venture.
The project has a contract value of €1.3 billion in total.
The project, which is a component of the European Bank's Green City Programme, is to lessen traffic jams and greenhouse gas emissions in Alexandria, a city of five million people.
Modern and effective metro with significantly increased transport capacity, frequency, and comfort will be provided by Thales cybersecured solutions, including automated fare collection systems, centralised control, telecommunications, security & passenger services, and SelTrac(TM) Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling.
