A 120 million euro eight‑year contract for maintenance and support of 1,700 gates,
1,600 validators, and 750 ticket vending machines at 400 railway stations in the Netherlands has been given to Thales by Dutch Railways (NS).

With 1.3 million passengers per day on working days, NS is the primary passenger railroad operator in the Netherlands.

The world's public transportation operators frequently purchase gates and validators from Thales.

In order to enable OVPay, which will soon allow travellers to pass through access gates or check in using their bank card or phone, the firm changed the ticketing system in 2022.

The ticketing equipment in the Netherlands is maintained daily by Thales team of 50 field service engineers and 24-hour support and service centre for users of public transportation.
